That’s what always kept Hagrid safe. Because Hagrid actually would’ve been a natural to kill in some ways. But because I always cleaved to this mental image of Hagrid being the one carrying Harry out and that was so perfect for me because it was Hagrid who came and took him into the world and then Hagrid who would bring him back.

Yes, yes, I know it’s my fault for not privatizing everything, but this doesn’t happen to other people. Warren Ellis hasn’t talked to every other person to ever mention Transmetropolitian. Zak Smith doesn’t troll every person who namedrops him. And yet both of these people somehow found it necessary to bother me when I did the above things, and now Ellen Kushner— whose stupid book I haven’t even finished yet— has decided to join their ranks. Why does this keep happening? Am I cursed?

I hate talking to people who create things I’ve read or watched or whatever. I avoid them at signings and cons. I don’t go to concerts or openings. It fucking scares the shit out of me. Yet somehow I always manage to say the exact phrase that whatever author is googling that day.
